Current Volunteer Opportunities:

•  Special Events / Fundraising: A great way to help out Homeward Bound is to host our annual Spring Fundraiser. We open the door for organizations to hold a fundraiser of their choice to support Homeward Bound projects. Past fundraisers include bake sales, salon events, choir performances and sporting events. Work with Homeward Bound development staff to create a fundraiser that matches your group best. These events raise funds needed to provide adaptive equipment, supplies, community access opportunities and staffing support for children and adults with developmental disabilities. They are a tremendous help not to mention a lot of fun for your group! Time Frame: 3-20 hours of planning depending on event; commitment last until end of event

•  Painting: Get the entire office together or just a small group and paint the common area, bedrooms or hallways of a Homeward Bound home. This is an excellent way to help out the maintenance staff and the individuals at Homeward Bound. It's a fun way to have your group work together on a common goal. Time Frame: Depends on project, usually 3-5 hours.

•  Arts & Crafts Activities: Have fun creating arts and crafts with the individuals at one (or more) of our homes. Work with the staff to help the individuals create the project or simply sit back and let them create what they desire with limited assistance. This is a fun way to interact with the individuals and get to know their personalities. Time Frame: 2-4 hours per event; flexible commitment

•  Activity Assistant: Assist staff with projects and outings designed for the individuals Homeward Bound provides services to. If you enjoy working with people and have weekday, evening or weekend hours available, this program is for you. Time Frame: 2-4 hours per month; 6 month commitment

•  General Office Assistant: Help support the Homeward Bound staff by writing letters, providing data entry support, and coordinating files and mailings. Time Frame: 10-20 hours per week; 6 month commitment

•  Internships: Internships are a great opportunity to develop skills while assisting the staff and individuals of Homeward Bound. Time Frame: 10-20 hours per week; daytime hours

•  Maintenance Support: Assist in fixing equipment, repairing damaged furniture, woodworking, lawn maintenance, planting and raking, window washing, painting, cleaning carpets, repairing clothing, doing alterations, etc. Time Frame: depends on projects; flexible

•  Your event/project: Create your own event or project. Suggest your ideas to the Development Associate at Homeward Bound; we are always open to new ideas and events! Time Frame: you decide
